Classic Lasagna

Layered pasta casserole with rich meat sauce, creamy béchamel, and melted cheese.
Ingredients
- 400g lasagna noodles
- 500g ground beef
- 250g ground Italian sausage
- 500ml marinara sauce
- 1 onion, diced
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 500g ricotta cheese
- 300g mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 100g Parmesan cheese, grated
- 2 large eggs
- 60ml olive oil
- 30g fresh basil, chopped
- 15ml dried oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
Steps
- Cook lasagna noodles according to package directions
- Heat oil in large skillet over medium heat
- Add onion and cook until softened
- Add garlic and cook 30 seconds
- Add ground beef and sausage, cook until browned
- Drain excess fat and add marinara sauce
- Season with oregano, salt, and pepper
- Simmer 20 minutes
- Mix ricotta, eggs, and half the Parmesan in bowl
- Preheat oven to 180°C
- Layer sauce, noodles, ricotta mixture, and mozzarella
- Repeat layers twice
- Top with remaining Parmesan cheese
- Cover with foil and bake 45 minutes
- Remove foil and bake 15 minutes until bubbly
- Let rest 15 minutes before cutting
- Garnish with fresh basil
Notes
Let lasagna rest before cutting for clean slices. Can be assembled a day ahead and refrigerated before baking.
