Serving: 4 portions
Total time: 4 hours
Sweet and savory marinated beef that's grilled to perfection, perfect with rice and banchan.
Ingredients
- 800g ribeye or sirloin, sliced paper-thin
- 1 Asian pear, grated
- 120ml soy sauce
- 60ml brown sugar
- 30ml sesame oil
- 30ml rice wine
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 15g fresh ginger, grated
- 4 green onions, chopped
- 15g sesame seeds, toasted
- 1 onion, sliced
- Steamed rice for serving
- Lettuce leaves for wrapping
Steps
- Freeze beef 30 minutes for easier slicing
- Slice beef against grain into thin strips
- Grate Asian pear and squeeze out excess juice
- Mix pear juice with soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, and rice wine
- Add garlic, ginger, green onions, and sesame seeds to marinade
- Marinate beef in mixture for 3 hours minimum
- Heat grill or large skillet over high heat
- Cook marinated beef in single layer, don't overcrowd
- Grill 2-3 minutes until caramelized and cooked through
- Serve immediately with steamed rice and lettuce wraps
Notes
Slice meat very thin for tender results. Asian pear tenderizes the meat naturally with its enzymes.
