Traditional American meatloaf with a sweet and tangy glaze, perfect for family dinners.
Ingredients
- 700g ground beef
- 300g ground pork
- 150g breadcrumbs
- 250ml milk
- 1 large onion, diced fine
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 large eggs
- 60ml ketchup
- 15ml Worcestershire sauce
- 5g salt
- 2g black pepper
- 90ml ketchup (for glaze)
- 30ml brown sugar
- 15ml apple cider vinegar
Steps
- Preheat oven to 180°C
- Soak breadcrumbs in milk for 5 minutes
- Sauté onion and garlic until softened
- Combine ground meats in large bowl
- Add soaked breadcrumbs, onion mixture, eggs, ketchup, and Worcestershire
- Season with salt and pepper
- Mix gently with hands until just combined
- Shape into loaf on lined baking sheet
- Bake for 45 minutes
- Mix glaze ingredients together
- Brush glaze over meatloaf
- Continue baking 15 minutes until internal temperature reaches 70°C
- Let rest 10 minutes before slicing
Notes
Don't overmix the meat mixture to avoid a tough texture. Let rest before slicing to prevent falling apart.
