Ingredients
- 150g all-purpose flour
- 150g sugar
- 5g baking powder
- 2g salt
- 2 large eggs
- 120ml milk
- 60g butter, melted
- 5ml vanilla extract
- 500ml milk for custard
- 6 egg yolks
- 100g sugar
- 45g cornstarch
- 10ml vanilla extract
- 30g butter
- 200g dark chocolate, chopped
- 200ml heavy cream
Steps
- Preheat oven to 180°C
- Grease two 20cm round pans
- Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt
- Beat eggs, milk, melted butter, and vanilla
- Combine wet and dry ingredients
- Divide between pans and bake 25 minutes
- Cool completely
- Make custard by heating milk in saucepan
- Whisk egg yolks, sugar, and cornstarch
- Slowly add hot milk to egg mixture
- Return to heat and cook until thickened
- Stir in vanilla and butter
- Cool custard completely
- Place one cake layer on serving plate
- Spread custard over layer
- Top with second layer
- Heat cream and pour over chocolate for glaze
- Pour glaze over cake
